Core Responsibilities
- VTMA Training Leadership (Primary Function)
- Lead and facilitate all VTMA training programs ensuring full engagement and alignment with Viking STAR & BRAND standards
- Serve as the primary point of contact for trainees, including after-hours emergency support for trainee-related incidents at the hotel
- Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and development guidance to both trainees and functional trainers throughout the training experience.
- Maintain oversight and accountability for the quality of training delivery across the entire training team, ensuring consistency, effectiveness, and alignment with Viking standards
- Coordinate and manage the logistics of VMTA in collaboration with NOCHI, ensuring smooth execution of all training sessions, schedules, materials, and trainee support needs.
- Serve as the primary after-hours emergency contact for trainees during VMTA sessions, supporting urgent trainee or hotel-related matters as needed.
- Support crew sign-on processes associated with training, including onboarding logistics, credentialing coordination, arrivals, and training readiness.
- Participate in individual feedback sessions with trainees, including completing VMTA assessments and providing tailored developmental feedback.
- Manage logistics related to unsuccessful trainees, including transition planning and return travel coordination where applicable.
- Support trainee travel and accommodation arrangements during VMTA sessions, serving as liaison with crew hotel partners as needed.
- Manage post-training transition logistics, including ship visit coordination and successful handoff of crew members into operational assignments.
- Partner with NOCHI trainers, onboard leaders, and HR to ensure consistency and effectiveness of training
- Identify training gaps and implement targeted development solutions based on observation and feedback
- Serve as the bridge between training, HR, and operations, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders
- MxP Learning Platform Management
- Own and manage the MXP Learning Platform, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and engagement
- Upload, assign, and track all HR and operational training programs
- Maintain training records, completion metrics, and reporting
- Send monthly training updates and completion reports to operational leaders
- Partner with onboard management to ensure accountability and follow-through on training completion
- Performance & Development Strategy
- Analyze training data, onboarding feedback, and performance trends to develop targeted training plans
- Support leadership development through coaching, mentorship, and structured learning initiatives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of training programs and onboarding experience
- Document observations, trends, and recommendations for HR and operational leadership
- Recruitment Support (Secondary Function)
- Manage full-cycle recruiting for evergreen positions during non-VTMA periods
- Build and maintain talent pipelines aligned with workforce needs
- Conduct structured, brand-aligned interviews focused on skill, culture fit, and service standards
- Manage candidate communications and documentation within SuccessFactors and SharePoint
- Partner with hiring managers and HR to ensure timely and effective hiring decisions
- Facilitate and/or support delivery of DRIVE leadership development training for shipboard leaders and supervisors, reinforcing Viking leadership expectations.
- Perform any additional duties or projects assigned by the Director of Human Resources
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Human Resources, Education, or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or recruiting, preferably in hospitality, maritime, or travel industries
- Proven experience facilitating classroom-style training and/or leadership development programs
- Strong understanding of onboarding, performance management, and service standards
- Experience with LMS platforms (MXP preferred) and ATS systems (SuccessFactors a plus)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate independently
- Ability to travel and maintain flexibility based on operational needs
Travel Requirement: Approximately 30%, including training programs, ship visits, and recruitment support
