Role summary
Role summary
We’re looking for a Video Editor who can also shoot. You’ll own the full
loop: plan simple shoots, capture clean footage and audio, then edit it into
high-performing content for Reels, Shorts, ads and occasional long-form.
Most work is education-focused: student stories, faculty POVs, campus life,
events and admissions campaigns.
1) Shooting and on-ground production
- Shoot talking-head videos, testimonials, classroom moments, campus life and event coverage
- Set up basic lighting for indoor shoots (soft, flattering, consistent)
- Capture clean audio using lapel/shotgun mics and monitor levels during recording
- Compose frames well (headroom, background, brand-safe locations,steady shots)
- Manage footage workflow: backups, folder structure, file naming,drive uploads
2) Short-form editing
- Edit Reels/Shorts with strong hooks, tight pacing and clear story flow
- Add captions, on-screen text, b-roll and basic motion elements where needed
- Create multiple variants from the same footage (different openings,
- pacing, CTAs)
- Deliver platform-ready exports with correct aspect ratios and safe zones
3) Ads and performance creatives
- Edit direct-response videos for admissions.
- Produce iterations quickly based on performance feedback
- Maintain a library of reusable elements: openers, lower-thirds,transitions, end cards
4) Long-form and event edits
Edit webinars, podcast and event films into clean long-form videos
Create highlight clips, chapters and social cut-downs from long content
Ensure audio consistency and viewing comfort across the full video
5) Collaboration and process
- Work from briefs and scripts, propose improvements and close loops fast
- Coordinate with content writers and brand teams for messaging and
- approvals
- Maintain project files properly: source, project, exports, versions,thumbnails
- Track deadlines and output targets across weekly content plans
Skills
- 3 years+ in shooting + editing (agency, creator, production house,education all good)
- Strong sense of framing, lighting basics and clean audio capture
- Editing instincts for retention (especially first 3 seconds and pacing)
- Comfortable taking feedback and delivering changes quickly
- Organised file management habits (this matters a lot)
Tools
- Editing: Final Cut preferred
- Motion: After Effects basics (good to have)
- Shooting: DSLR/Mirrorless or iPhone shoots, gimbal/handheld
Techniques
- Audio: lapel mics, shotgun mic basics, boom
- Lighting: basic softbox/LED panel setup, natural light usage
- Experience shooting in fast-moving environments (events, campus activations)
- Colour correction basics and consistent skin tone
- Thumbnail sense and basic graphic integration
