Job details:
Post-Production Intern - Premiere Pro & After Effects
Company: ikipendence
Role: Post-Production Artist & Video Editor Intern
Project: 2D Animated Short Film
Location: Remote
Duration: 2 Months
Stipend: Unpaid
About the Project & Role:
At ikipendence, we are in the final stages of producing an original 2D animated short film. The heavy lifting of frame-by-frame animation and coloring is complete. Now, we need the magic of post-production to bring it all together.
We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Video Editor & Post-Production Artist to take our raw, colored frames and assemble them into a polished, cinematic final product. This role is critical to the film’s pacing, visual cohesion, and emotional impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assembly & Pacing: Take the final colored animation sequences and edit them together in Adobe Premiere Pro, ensuring tight timing and a compelling narrative flow.
- Compositing & Integration: Use Adobe After Effects to seamlessly composite character animations onto backgrounds. You will be responsible for ensuring the characters feel grounded in their environments (managing layers, alpha channels, and basic color correction if necessary).
- The Soundscape (Crucial): Elevate the storytelling through meticulous sound design. You will source, edit, and mix foley sounds, sound effects (SFX), and background ambient audio to bring the silent animation to life.
- Final Polish: Add necessary transitions, title cards, credits, and export the final film to industry-standard specifications.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements):
- Software Mastery: High proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects.
- The Animator's Eye: A strong understanding of animation timing, compositing, and how 2D elements interact. (Previous experience editing animation is a massive plus).
- The Audio Ear: Demonstrated experience or a strong passion for sound design and foley work. You understand that audio is 50% of the film experience.
- Attention to Detail: You have a meticulous eye for continuity, layer management, and audio-syncing.
- Proactive Problem Solver: You can take a sequence of frames and figure out the best way to make the scene "work."
What You'll Get Out of It:
- A Major Portfolio Piece: You will be credited as the primary Editor/Post-Production Artist on a completed, original 2D animated short film.
- Real-World Production Experience: Gain hands-on experience finalizing a project within a startup production pipeline.
- Mentorship: Work directly with the founder and the creative team to refine your skills and understand the business of creative production.
- A Strong Letter of Recommendation: Upon successful completion of the project.
