Role Overview
We are looking for a Video Editor with strong storytelling sensibility and working knowledge of AI-assisted editing tools. The ideal candidate understands documentary pacing, emotional beats, and cinematic structure, while leveraging AI to improve efficiency, organization, and creative exploration without compromising craft.
You will collaborate closely with directors, cinematographers, and sound designers to shape raw footage into compelling, story-led films.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial & Storytelling
- Edit documentary, branded, travel, sports, and narrative films with a strong cinematic approach
- Structure long-form and short-form narratives with clarity, emotion, and rhythm
- Translate real-world footage into engaging, authentic stories
- Collaborate with directors during story development and fine cuts
Technical & Post-Production
- Perform offline and online edits, colour prep, and final deliveries
- Manage footage, proxies, backups, and project organization
- Integrate sound design, music, graphics, and subtitles effectively
- Maintain consistency in tone, pacing, and visual language
AI-Assisted Editing & Workflow
Use AI tools for:
- Footage logging, transcription, and search (e.g., text-based editing)
- Rough cuts, selects, and scene assembly
- Audio clean-up, dialogue enhancement, and noise reduction
- Experimenting with pacing, versions, or alternate edits
- Stay updated with emerging AI tools relevant to post-production
- Balance AI efficiency with human-led storytelling decisions
Required Skills & Experience
Editing Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve
- Strong understanding of documentary storytelling and cinematic pacing
- Experience with long-form content (documentaries, series, films) preferred
- Good sense of music, sound, and emotional flow
AI & Tech Knowledge
- Working knowledge of AI-based editing or post-production tools
- Comfortable integrating AI into real-world editing workflows
- Understanding of ethical and creative boundaries of AI use
Soft Skills
- Strong narrative instincts and attention to detail
- Ability to take feedback and iterate creatively
- Self-driven, organized, and deadline-oriented
- Passion for documentary and real-world storytelling
Bonus / Nice to Have
- Experience editing feature-length documentaries
- Color grading basics (DaVinci Resolve)
- Motion graphics or title design knowledge
- Background in sound design or music editing
