Video Editor & Cinematographer — Job Description
Department: Creative / Production Employment Type: Full-Time Experience: 3–5 Years Location: On-site / Remote / Hybrid Reporting To: Content & Creative Manager / Creative Director
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and visually driven Video Editor & Cinematographer who can own the entire video production process — from setting up a shot on location to delivering a polished, platform-optimized final cut.
You are not just someone who edits footage handed to you. You are someone who thinks in frames, understands light, knows how to tell a story through a lens, and can then bring that story to life in the edit suite. You understand pacing, emotion, color, and sound — and you use all of them intentionally.
Whether it's a brand film, a social media reel, a product shoot, or a corporate documentary — you can handle it from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Cinematography & On-Site Shooting
- Plan and execute video shoots — including framing, composition, camera movement, and lighting setup
- Operate professional camera equipment (DSLR, mirrorless, cinema cameras) across indoor and outdoor environments
- Set up and manage lighting rigs, reflectors, and natural light to achieve the desired visual mood
- Work with directors and creative leads to understand the visual brief and translate it into compelling footage
- Shoot a wide range of content — brand films, testimonials, product videos, events, social media reels, and behind-the-scenes content
- Operate gimbals, tripods, sliders, and drone equipment where required
- Ensure all footage is captured at the right resolution, frame rate, and quality for its intended platform
Video Editing & Post-Production
- Edit raw footage into clean, engaging, and emotionally resonant videos using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
- Perform color grading and color correction to achieve a consistent, cinematic look
- Edit audio — sync, clean, balance, and enhance dialogue, music, and sound effects
- Add motion graphics, lower thirds, titles, and transitions using Adobe After Effects or similar tools
- Adapt final edits for multiple platforms and formats — YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, website, TV, and digital ads
- Manage and organize raw footage, project files, and media assets efficiently
- Deliver final exports in correct specifications for each platform and use case
Creative Collaboration & Pre-Production
- Participate in pre-production planning — shot lists, storyboards, location scouting, and equipment checklists
- Collaborate with the creative and content teams to align video narratives with campaign goals
- Bring creative ideas to the table for storytelling, visual style, and content formats
- Assist in scriptwriting or voiceover direction where needed
Reels, Short-Form & Social Content
- Create fast-turnaround short-form content for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok
- Understand platform-specific best practices — aspect ratios, caption placement, hook-driven editing, trending audio
- Edit high volumes of social content without compromising on quality or creativity
- Stay on top of trending video formats, transitions, and storytelling styles on social media
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Film Production, Mass Communication, Visual Arts, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of professional experience in video editing and cinematography
- Strong portfolio or showreel demonstrating both shooting and editing skills across different content types
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or DaVinci Resolve
- Solid experience with Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and visual enhancements
- Hands-on experience operating professional cameras — Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, or similar
- Strong understanding of lighting, composition, color theory, and cinematographic techniques
- Experience with color grading — LUTs, color wheels, skin tone correction, and stylized looks
- Excellent sense of visual storytelling, pacing, and rhythm in editing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with drone operation and aerial cinematography (DJI or equivalent)
- Knowledge of audio production — recording, mixing, and sound design
- Familiarity with AI video tools such as Runway ML, Pika Labs, or CapCut AI features
- Experience shooting and editing for branded content, advertising campaigns, or agency productions
- Knowledge of live streaming setups and multi-camera production
- Basic motion design skills — animated logos, kinetic typography, infographic animation
- Experience in an agency, production house, or fast-paced content studio
