Role Description
Verkyn is looking for a full-time Video Editor based in Chennai to join our creative team.
This is a primarily remote role, so you will be able to work from home for most day-to-day projects. However, candidates must be located in Chennai and be available to occasionally come into the studio or attend client shoots and production requirements when needed.
As a Video Editor, you will create and edit video content for social media, advertising campaigns, and other digital platforms while ensuring every deliverable aligns with the client's brand, creative direction, and campaign objectives.
Day-to-day responsibilities include assembling raw footage, identifying the strongest takes, structuring edits, adding transitions and effects, syncing audio, performing basic audio cleanup, and color grading footage. You will also collaborate closely with producers, designers, strategists, and other members of the creative team to develop storylines and improve the overall quality of content.
You will be expected to prepare final exports optimized for different platforms and formats, contribute creative ideas and visual references, maintain consistent quality standards, and effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment.
Responsibilities
- Edit short-form and long-form video content for social media, digital advertising, branded content, and campaigns.
- Assemble raw footage and turn it into engaging, well-paced stories.
- Select and organize footage, music, sound effects, graphics, and other creative assets.
- Create engaging motion graphics, titles, captions, overlays, and transitions.
- Perform color correction and color grading to maintain visual consistency and achieve the intended creative look.
- Sync audio and perform basic sound editing and cleanup.
- Adapt and export content for different social media platforms, aspect ratios, and specifications.
- Collaborate with producers, designers, strategists, and other creatives to execute concepts effectively.
- Contribute creative ideas, references, editing styles, and visual concepts during the content development process.
- Maintain organized project files and ensure consistent quality across deliverables.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting agreed timelines.
- Occasionally participate in studio productions and client shoots in Chennai when required.
Qualifications
- Strong video editing and video production skills, with the ability to assemble, refine, and deliver high-quality video content.
- Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, music, rhythm, and visual composition.
- Experience with color correction and color grading.
- Experience creating motion graphics, titles, graphics, and visual effects for digital content.
- Proficiency with industry-standard editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects or similar motion graphics software.
- Good understanding of social media content formats, trends, and platform-specific best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent creative quality.
- Ability to receive feedback, collaborate with a creative team, and iterate quickly.
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines in a remote working environment.
- Must be based in Chennai and available to travel locally for occasional studio work, client shoots, or production requirements.
- A relevant degree, certification, or equivalent practical experience in video production, filmmaking, media, or a related field is preferred.
Portfolio Requirement
A portfolio or showreel showcasing previous video editing work is required. Work demonstrating social media content, advertising, branded videos, motion graphics, or similar creative projects is especially valuable.

Full-Time | Chennai-Based | Mostly Remote
The role is primarily work-from-home, with occasional in-person requirements for studio sessions, internal production work, and client shoots in Chennai.
