The Institution for the Blind, established in 1939, is one of India’s oldest institutions serving visually impaired individuals. Originally founded in Lahore and relocated to Delhi in 1947, it is recognized in the Limca Book of Records as the oldest institution of its kind. Notably, it was honored to have Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, President of India and renowned scholar, as its Patron-in-Chief in 1962. The institution continues its service in Amar Colony, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, on land granted in 1966 by the then Minister for Urban Development, the late Shri Meher Chand Khanna.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Vice Principal at the Institution for the Blind, located in Delhi, India. The Vice Principal will play a crucial leadership role, assisting the Principal in managing academic operations, faculty coordination, curriculum development, and ensuring high standards of education. Responsibilities include overseeing daily school activities, mentoring teachers, addressing student and staff concerns, maintaining discipline, and ensuring the institution’s policies and guidelines are adhered to. Additionally, the Vice Principal will contribute to strategic planning and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Experience in educational administration and curriculum development
- Proficiency in conflict resolution, mentoring, and team building
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of Hindi or other regional languages is a plus
- Understanding of the needs and challenges of individuals with visual impairments
- Proficiency in operational management, policy development, and school compliance regulations
- Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field
- Prior experience in teaching or education management is strongly preferred
