VP – Technology | SwaDharma (formerly 3ioNetra) — On-site
About SwaDharma
SwaDharma is building India's first Dharma Stack — the operating system and payment rail for India's ₹1.3 lakh Cr+ ($156B) temple economy. Our products — Setu (Temple OS), DharmaPay (unified payment layer), Dharma ID (spiritual identity graph), and Mitr (AI assistant) — already power 100+ temples, 10 lakh+ devotees, and ₹100Cr+ in transactions. We're scaling to 10,000+ temples in the next two years, backed by institutional partners like SBI, Axis Bank, Canara Bank, TATA, Bandhan Bank, Razorpay, and PayU, and are raising to hit the metrics that clear our Series A bar.
About the Role
We need a VP-Technology who thinks like a founder and still ships like an engineer. This is the person who owns the architecture that must scale our stack 100x in temple coverage and 10x in GMV over the next two years. You'll set the 2-3 year technology roadmap and also be the one debugging a payment reconciliation issue at midnight. This is not a role for someone who wants to only manage from a dashboard — we need deep, current hands-on capability.
What You'll Own
- Set and execute the 2-3 year technology strategy across Setu (Temple SaaS/ERP), DharmaPay (payment rails), Dharma ID (identity/KYB), and Mitr (AI layer), ensuring each layer scales as we go from 100+ to 10,000+ temples.
- Architect and evolve our AWS infrastructure for scale, reliability, and cost efficiency — supporting a system that must handle both digital and at-mandir (offline) payment flows without downtime.
- Lead legacy-to-modern migrations as we harden our stack for institutional bank partners and Series A-level scrutiny — many of our earliest builds will need re-architecting for scale, security, and compliance.
- Remain a genuine individual contributor: write production code across PHP, Node.js, Flutter, and JavaScript, review pull requests, and get into the weeds on troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Own fintech-grade security and compliance — payment data, KYB/Dharma ID identity data, 80G audit trails, and bank-partner integration standards all sit under your watch.
- Build and scale the engineering org's DevOps discipline: CI/CD, observability, incident response, and infrastructure-as-code, so the team ships fast without breaking production.
- Partner directly with CXOs on product and GTM decisions that have technical dependencies — including bank/institutional integrations and the Mitr AI roadmap.
- Drive Agile delivery across the org, keeping large, cross-functional projects (like our 10,000-temple onboarding push) on time and within budget.
- Represent technology in fundraising and due-diligence conversations — investors and bank partners will ask you hard questions about scale, security, and architecture.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of overall technology experience, with meaningful time spent in startups and hands-on work with ERP or ERP-like systems.
- Startup experience, ideally as an early or founding technical leader who has taken a product from hundreds to thousands of customers.
- Deep, current experience with SaaS platforms, ERP-style systems (multi-module, workflow-driven, compliance-heavy), and payment/fintech infrastructure.
- Strong hands-on full-stack ability in PHP, Node.js, Flutter, JavaScript, or closely comparable stacks — this must be recent, not five years old.
- Real AWS architecture experience: designing for scale, security, and cost, not just deploying to it.
- A track record of migrating legacy systems to modern architecture without disrupting live operations — we're doing this in real time as we scale.
- Solid grounding in databases, servers, infrastructure management, and DevOps practices (CI/CD, containerization, monitoring).
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals — this matters more than usual given we handle donations, KYB identity data, and bank-grade payment flows.
- Comfort with Agile delivery and a demonstrated ability to hit timelines and budgets on large, ambiguous projects.
- Must remain a true individual contributor — actively writing code, reviewing PRs, and troubleshooting production issues, not just planning and delegating. This is non-negotiable for the role.
