Role: Vice President of Sales / Platform Owner (Data Science)
Agumbe.ai is building a control plane for LLM usage - helping teams manage, route, observe, and govern how AI models are used across applications and environments.
As organizations move from simple API calls to production-grade AI systems, they face challenges around cost control, provider flexibility, reliability, observability, and guardrails.
Agumbe’s LLM Gateway sits at the center of this shift - acting as the single interface to manage all model interactions across dev, staging, and production.
We’re looking for a Senior Consultant who brings deep empathy for customer needs and a strategic mindset for platform growth. You’ll be part customer champion, part sales strategist, and part platform enabler - translating real-world AI adoption challenges into scalable solutions.
You’ll work closely with the founder, sales, engineering, and marketing teams, and be the voice of our enterprise users adopting LLMs in production.
What You'll Do
Platform Ownership (Data Science + AI/ML)
Own the LLM Gateway experience — from API usage to routing, guardrails, and observability
Shape how teams manage multi-provider LLM access (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) through a unified interface
Co-design workflows for:
- request routing (dev vs prod models)
- budget enforcement and cost controls
- prompt/response logging and observability
Collaborate with engineering to define:
- gateway APIs and SDK ergonomics
- streaming and real-time response handling
- guardrails (redaction, prompt injection prevention, policies)
Contribute to technical content:
- blogs, demos, and use-case walkthroughs for AI teams
- Track the evolving LLM tooling ecosystem and synthesize insights into product direction
Customer Success and Business Development
Lead onboarding of teams adopting LLMs in production environments
Run discovery sessions to understand:
- current LLM usage patterns
- cost challenges and scaling bottlenecks
- reliability and governance gaps
- Conduct demos
Convert early adopters into long-term design partners
Build and refine:
- LLM Gateway GTM motion
- outbound messaging and ICP targeting
- sales playbooks for AI-native teams
Partner with marketing on:
- positioning
- pitch decks
- technical storytelling
Support pricing strategy:
- usage-based pricing
- enterprise contracts
- cost optimization narratives
Mentor early GTM hires and help scale the sales motion
What We're looking for
6–10 years in technical sales, AI/ML consulting, or platform/gateway products
Experience working with teams building LLM-powered applications
Ability to translate:
- tokens → cost
- latency → user experience
- model choice → business tradeoffs
Familiarity with:
- API products or developer platforms
- multi-environment deployments (dev/staging/prod)
Bonus:
- Exposure to Kubernetes, platform engineering, or AI infrastructure
Strong storytelling and relationship-building skills
Startup mindset: ownership, speed, and adaptability
