About Delhivery
Delhivery is India's largest and most profitable fully integrated logistics provider. With its nationwide network covering over 18,500 pin codes, the company provides a comprehensive suite of supply chain services, including express parcel delivery, heavy goods delivery, PTL freight, cross-border, supply chain, and technology services. The FTL (Full Truckload) business is a critical growth engine, aiming to provide reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient transportation solutions to our enterprise and B2B clients.
Role Overview
The Vice President of Capacity Creation for FTL is a critical leadership role responsible for building, scaling, and managing the supply side of Delhivery’s Full Truckload business. You will lead the strategy and execution of sourcing trucking capacity across India, ensuring that our supply network is robust, highly responsive, and capable of meeting dynamic customer demands. Your primary focus will be on aggressively expanding our vendor base, maintaining uninterrupted supply, and launching new operational clusters to drive business growth.
Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Responsibilities
1. Vendor Acquisition & Partnership Development
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute a comprehensive vendor acquisition strategy to onboard fleet owners, large transport operators, and regional brokers onto the Delhivery platform.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term partnerships with key trucking vendors, ensuring they view Delhivery as a preferred partner of choice.
- Contracting & Commercials: Lead negotiations for freight rates, SLA terms, and capacity commitments to optimize the cost of supply while ensuring high service quality.
- Vendor Retention: Implement vendor engagement and loyalty programs, addressing pain points (like payment cycles, return loads) to reduce churn and build a dedicated fleet network.
2. Supply Reliability & Capacity Assurance
- Demand-Supply Matching: Guarantee 100% vehicle placement against demand/customer indents across all active lanes and clusters, even during peak seasons or market shortages.
- Predictive Capacity Planning: Work closely with the demand and analytics teams to forecast required truck types (open, container, specialized) and proactively secure capacity ahead of the curve.
- Agility & Crisis Management: Develop agile supply frameworks and contingency plans to handle sudden spikes in demand or supply chain disruptions effectively
3. Network Expansion & Cluster Launch
- Geographic Expansion: Identify high-potential sourcing hubs, manufacturing belts, and strategic transport nodes to launch new operational clusters for FTL capacity sourcing.
- Go-to-Market Execution: Lead the end-to-end launch of new clusters, establishing local sourcing teams, vendor networks, and operational protocols from the ground up.
- Market Intelligence: Continuously map the Indian trucking landscape to understand regional supply dynamics, lane imbalances, and pricing trends to inform expansion strategies.
4. Operational Excellence & Team Leadership
- Performance Monitoring: Track and improve critical supply metrics, including vehicle placement TAT, vendor compliance, rejection rates, and cost per ton-km.
- Compliance & Quality: Ensure all sourced vehicles and vendors strictly adhere to Delhivery’s safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Team Building: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing central and regional capacity creation team. Foster a culture of execution excellence, data-driven decision-making, and vendor empathy.
Qualifications & Ideal Profile
- Experience: 12–18+ years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management, with at least 5-7 years focused explicitly on FTL capacity sourcing, fleet management, or vendor development in India.
- Domain Expertise: Deep, ground-level understanding of the Indian trucking ecosystem, including regional nuances, transport hubs, and fleet operator behavior.
- Track Record: Proven ability to scale supply networks from scratch and manage large operational budgets. Experience in launching new geographies/clusters is mandatory.
- Skills: Exceptional negotiation capabilities, strong analytical prowess, and the ability to leverage technology/data to solve complex supply chain problems.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage large, distributed teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment.
