Job Profile
Support the Head of Economic Research Unit (“ERU”) which is recently created in India. Experienced and insightful research analyst to contribute to India focused analysis of
- Indian financial institutions (Banks, Insurance companies, Non-Banking Financial Corporations (NBFCs), Private Equity and other financial institutions)
- Macro-economic research on the Indian economy.
As Vice President- you will play a key role in shaping Bank’s understanding of the Indian economy, contributing to global investment strategy of client in India and policy level decisions. The role is also expected to provide economic insights to internal and external stakeholders. The role will focus on producing in-depth analysis and actionable insights on Indian Banks, insurance companies, Non-Banking Financial Corporations (NBFCs), Private Equity and other financial institutions. The candidate would be working closely with global and regional teams to support internal stakeholders like for e.g. senior management of client and external stakeholders like for e.g. institutional corporate banking clients with high quality sectoral research reports, presentations and analysis. It would also involve investigation of India’s country conditions, macro-economic trends, regulations and economic trends of each state.
Main Responsibilities
Strategic:
- Handle sectoral research on financial institutions covering Banks, insurance companies, Non-Banking Financial Corporations (NBFCs), Private Equity and other financial institutions.
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts, monitor financial profiles, regulatory changes, macro-economic trends, geo-political shifts etc. impacting the sector.
- Engage with institutional clients of our client in India to communicate sector insights.
- Participate in conferences, seminars and client's meetings as a sector expert.
- Monitor regulatory updates from RBI, SEBI, IRDAI and other relevant bodies to assess implications for covered companies.
- Macro-economic research covering India’s economy, including growth, inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, external sectors, structural reforms etc.
- Support in analysis of daily macroeconomic data flow via providing both real-time data assessments as well as identifying and modelling medium-term trends.
- Monitor economic data and create model to forecast macro-trends.
- Contribute to publishing periodic reports on economic analysis, macro-economics and formulating the India macro-economic view.
- Create high quality economic and sector related analysis (written reports and graphical work)
- Produce re-occurring sector related research reports, macro desk strategy reports, ad-hoc economic topical pieces that will be featured as standalones as well as within other client reports.
- Plan and strategize creation of high-quality presentation materials for own use (and/or team lead) for institutional investors and corporate multinationals and Japan clients.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on the bank side, global markets sales & trading, capital markets, coverage and portfolio management teams of Global Corporates and Japanese Corporates
- Work with fellow research analysts and economists within client to produce models and new content.
- Collaborate with Japan related teams as part of unlocking Japan global initiative.
- Will help differentiate client as a source of intellectual capital and help drive business for the bank side along with client coverage teams, sales & trading and capital market.
Customer
- Develop and maintain strong key stakeholder management both within the client and externally.
- Provide tailored insights on financial institutions sector and economic insights to clients.
- Will help broaden the reach of the India macro strategy platform by performing economic analysis to help deepen the content coverage while supporting client and Securities.
People
- Act as a role model to team members and adhere to all company policies / guidelines.
- Collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure consistency and alignment in research coverage
- Connect beyond your team and leverage our global strength as One.
- Advisor for pan-India branches and Business Units and teams such as Japanese Corporates and Investment Banking (JCIB), Global Corporates and Investment Banking (GCIB), Global Markets (GM), Transaction Baking Division of India (TBDI), Compliance, Risk, HR, General Administration, Finance, Legal, Operation and other areas assigned by Head of REO.
Candidate Profile
- CFA/ CA/ Postgraduate (Master’s degree) in Economics/ Finance or a related field from a leading university with at least 12 years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Excellent financial modelling, valuation and forecasting skills
- Strong experience/background in covering Indian financial institutions in a global or regional context preferably in a global bank, credit research organization, financial institution with excellent report writing and analytical skills
- Knowledge of macro-economics, deep understanding of the Indian economy, global macro-economic linkages and sustainability related economic issues is a plus.
- Strong stakeholder management, and ability to collaborate with other departments.
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of high impact publications and presentations
- Familiarity with research databases tools and platforms like Bloomberg, Reuters etc, and data analysis.
- A self-starter with drive, initiative, and enthusiasm.
