Role Description The VFX Roto Artist role at CODE VFX STUDIOS is a full-time, on-site position located in Hyderabad. In this role, the artist will be responsible for creating precise mattes and roto shapes for characters, props, and complex elements to support compositing and other VFX work. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing live-action footage, tracing and tracking elements frame by frame, maintaining clean edge quality and motion consistency, and collaborating closely with compositors and supervisors to meet shot requirements. The artist will follow production workflows, naming conventions, and delivery standards while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality output across multiple projects. The role also involves receiving and implementing feedback, troubleshooting roto-related issues, and contributing to continuous improvement of tools and techniques.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in roto tools and software (e.g., Silhouette, Nuke, Mocha, After Effects) and ability to create accurate mattes for complex shots.
- Hands-on experience with core VFX disciplines such as Paint/Cleanup, basic Compositing support, and Match-move collaboration.
- Solid understanding of film and video fundamentals, including camera movement, perspective, motion blur, and edge treatment.
- Ability to interpret shot briefs, follow production pipelines, manage time effectively, and deliver consistent results under tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail, strong visual judgment, and commitment to maintaining high quality across frames and sequences.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with supervisors, compositors, and other team members.
- Prior studio or production experience in VFX is highly beneficial; experience on feature films, streaming content, or advertising projects is a plus.
- Relevant education or training in animation, VFX, digital media, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
