Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) Maintenance Technician based in Chennai. The role involves daily inspection, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of VFDs and related control equipment to ensure reliable operation in industrial environments. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, replacing or repairing components, configuring parameters, and coordinating with production and engineering teams to minimize downtime. The technician will maintain detailed service records, follow safety procedures, and support installation and commissioning of new VFD systems. Collaboration with senior engineers and vendors for technical support and continuous improvement is also part of the day-to-day work.
Qualifications
- Technical knowledge of VFDs, motors, and industrial control systems, including basic understanding of electrical circuits and power electronics.
- Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial automation equipment or similar electrical/electronic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, manuals, and technical documentation, and use diagnostic tools and test instruments.
- Strong attention to safety, adherence to standard operating procedures, and capability to work in industrial plant environments.
- Diploma or degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering/technical field from a recognized institution.
- Effective communication skills, ability to work in a team, and willingness to coordinate with cross-functional departments and external service providers.
- Prior experience in industrial automation or manufacturing facilities in or around Chennai is an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site, respond to maintenance calls, and occasionally work in shifts or extended hours as operational needs require.
