About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Surgeon to join our growing clinical team. This is a hands-on, front-line role at the core of what Sophistipets stands for — being there for animals and their families when it matters most. You will work in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment handling emergency presentations, critical care monitoring, and surgical interventions for companion animals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and manage emergency and critically ill patients across species
• Perform and assist in surgical procedures including soft tissue and routine surgeries
• Monitor patients in ICU, adjusting treatment plans based on clinical progression
• Conduct thorough clinical examinations and arrive at accurate diagnoses
• Prescribe and dispense medications in coordination with the in-house pharmacy
• Maintain detailed, accurate medical records for every case
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet parents regarding diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis
• Collaborate with the wider care team on complex or multi-disciplinary cases
• Uphold the highest standards of animal welfare and clinical ethics at all times

What We Are Looking For

• BVSc & AH degree from a recognised institution; postgraduate qualification is an advantage
• 1–3 years of clinical experience, with demonstrable exposure to emergency and critical care settings
• Confident in triage, stabilisation, and management of acute presentations
• Competent in routine and emergency surgical procedures
• Strong diagnostic reasoning and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to remain composed and effective under pressure
• Genuine passion for animal welfare and community-centred veterinary practice
• Excellent communication skills with pet parents and colleagues
