Hiring: Veterinary Surgeon for Delhi NCR's First Laparoscopic ABC Program | Earthlings Trust
Location: Noida, Delhi NCR
Salary: Up to Rs. 75,000 per month, based on experience
Type: Full-time
Earthlings Trust is launching a new Animal Birth Control program for female stray dogs in Noida, and it will be the first of its kind in Delhi NCR to use laparoscopic spaying instead of conventional surgery.
Why we are doing this differently:
- Animal Birth Control is widely considered the single most effective and humane solution to India's stray dog population problem. However, most government run ABC programs exist only on paper, and the implementation that does happen on ground is often handled by poorly run organizations working alongside corrupt municipal bodies. We want to build a program that actually works and delivers real, measurable results.
What makes this program unique:
- We will be using laparoscopic spaying techniques, which involve smaller incisions and significantly less trauma to the animal compared to conventional spay surgery.
- Recovery time for the dogs will be reduced to approximately 48 hours, compared to the usual 5 to 7 days required after conventional spay surgery.
- Because recovery is faster, we will be able to operate on a larger number of dogs on a consistent, ongoing basis rather than being limited by long recovery windows.
- Despite using an advanced surgical technique, the cost per surgery will be lower than what conventional spay procedures typically cost.
Who we are looking for:
- A registered veterinary surgeon with solid, hands on experience performing conventional spay surgeries.
- Prior experience with laparoscopic procedures is not required. We will provide full training on laparoscopic techniques with support from our partner veterinarians who specialize in this method.
- A genuine, demonstrated interest in animal welfare, particularly the wellbeing of street dogs, rather than someone looking to acquire a new surgical skill and move on to private practice afterward.
- Willingness to work in a field based, NGO driven environment rather than a purely clinical setting.
- Strong ethics and a commitment to humane treatment of animals throughout the surgical and recovery process.
What we are not looking for:
- Veterinarians who see this role purely as an opportunity to learn laparoscopic spaying before transitioning to a private practice. We want someone who is committed to staying with the program and growing it long term.
