Company Description Dudhshree Milk Producer Company Limited is a member-owned organization established on March 12, 2023 under Chapter XXI-A of the Companies Act, 2013, with support from the National Rural Livelihoods Mission and the West Bengal State Rural Livelihood Mission. The company operates on Mutual Assistance Principles, emphasizing voluntary membership, democratic governance, limited dividend distribution, and continuous member education. Technically supported by NDDB Dairy Services, Dudhshree focuses on procuring, processing, and marketing milk supplied by its members. It provides technical and managerial support in breeding, feed and fodder, and veterinary services to improve milk production, while ensuring that all milk procured meets organizational standards and statutory regulations.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Veterinarian role based in the Greater Kolkata Area. The Veterinarian will provide clinical care and preventive health services to member-owned dairy animals, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of common and complex conditions. The role involves supporting breeding programs, advising on feed and fodder management, and implementing herd health and vaccination protocols to improve milk yield and animal welfare. The Veterinarian will conduct field visits, maintain accurate medical and service records, and collaborate with technical and management teams to deliver integrated support to milk producers. The role also includes training and educating members on best practices in animal health, hygiene, and biosecurity, aligned with organizational and regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Professional veterinary skills in diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, and herd health management for dairy animals.
- Experience in dairy production systems, including breeding programs, reproductive health, and nutrition (feed and fodder) optimization.
- Knowledge of animal welfare standards, biosecurity practices, and compliance with relevant veterinary and food safety regulations.
- Strong communication and training abilities to educate producers on animal health, hygiene, and milk quality practices.
- Ability to work in the field, travel within the Greater Kolkata Area, and collaborate effectively with technical and community-based teams.
- Degree in Veterinary Science (e.g., BVSc or equivalent) from a recognized institution; valid registration with the appropriate veterinary council.
- Experience in rural or community-based dairy projects is an advantage; familiarity with producer organizations or cooperatives is beneficial.
- Comfort with basic digital tools for record-keeping, reporting, and coordination of veterinary services.
