About the role

The Analytical Data Operations (ADO) division of Verisk’s ISO business is the information refinery for our insurance-industry-experience data stores, ensuring that the country’s largest database of P&C policy and claims information can effectively support the analytical engines underlying the pricing of the US P&C insurance market. We are a hybrid team of data analysts, data engineers, BI developers, and actuarial-engineers that are responsible for the design and implementation of our core data-systems including data ingestion, data integration, data transformation, data analysis, and BI development. We are committed to improving the data & analytics platform that support a host of products the US P&C industry relies on. Responsibilities: Use technology to analyze insurance data for trends, anomalies, emerging patterns, and quality issues. Curiosity in data, research for answers, and learning new technology with a continued growth mindset. Proficient in SQL, Excel, and familiarity with Snowflake, Sigma and Power BI. Develop automated and efficient ways to improve data quality and error detection. Collaborate with internal divisions to ensure widespread access to and understanding of our core data assets. Develop in-depth understanding of insurance coverages, actuarial methodologies, analytic models, information quality control, and data governance. Develop an understanding of data analysis, data science, data governance. Lead conversations around company and insurance industry data trends. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a STEM major or with STEM coursework learned in associated majors (Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics). A strong desire to drive societal change using data, technology, and analytics. Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team while working on several concurrent projects. Knowledge of MS Office and SQL is a MUST for day to day work. Experience with programming language (C++, JAVA, R, Python) required. Work/internship experience in property/casualty insurance preferred. Prior work/internship experience in a data-centric department is desirable. Knowledge of data management principles is a plus. BI / Data Visualization Skills is a plus.
