Summary: 

The Supervisor, Materials is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and materials operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and material issuance to manufacturing. This role ensures execution of operational activities in compliance with cGMP/GDP, safety, and company procedures, while leading frontline staff to meet production schedules and inventory accuracy targets. The Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, coordination, and problem-solving to support efficient and compliant materials management.

Schedule: This position will be onsite Monday through Friday in our new Burlington office, but will be required to spend some days in our Cambridge office as we transition to our new facility.


Responsibilities:

Operations & Execution

  • Supervise daily warehouse operations, including receipt, storage, picking, and delivery of materials to support manufacturing. 
  • Coordinate daily activities and staffing to meet production schedules and operational demands. 
  • Execute and monitor inventory transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness within ERP/WMS systems. 
  • Oversee cycle counts and physical inventory activities, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved. 
  • Support material movement and flow across warehouse areas to maintain efficiency and service levels. 

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure adherence to cGMP/GDP, safety standards, and internal SOPs governing materials management. 
  • Support investigations related to deviations, discrepancies, and CAPAs, ensuring timely documentation and follow-up. 
  • Maintain inspection readiness by ensuring accurate documentation and compliant execution of all activities.
  • Escalate compliance or operational risks to management as appropriate. 

Staff Management

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, direction, and support to warehouse staff. 
  • Train and onboard employees on procedures, systems, and safety requirements. 
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback, coaching employees to improve performance and maintain compliance. 
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. 

Coordination & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment of materials availability and priorities. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. 
  • Communicate daily priorities, issues, and performance metrics to the team and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in materials management, warehouse operations, or supply chain within a cGMP-regulated environment (pharma/biotech preferred). 
  • Minimum 1–3 years of supervisory or team lead experience in a warehouse or materials environment. 
  • Working knowledge of cGMP/GDP requirements, inventory control, and materials handling practices. 
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365) and inventory transactions. 
  • Demonstrated ability to support inventory accuracy, including cycle counting and reconciliation. 
  • Experience participating in or supporting deviations, investigations, and CAPAs. 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and escalate issues appropriately.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Ability to gown and gain entry to manufacturing areas.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing physical duties.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs. 
  • May need to cover/work alternate schedules as needed.

The salary range Vericel reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting is $77,000 to $90,000 annually.

The actual salary offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skills. Bonus, incentive pay, equity and benefits may be provided in addition to the base compensation listed above.
