Role Overview
We are looking for a Vendor Manager to build, manage, and scale a high-quality vendor ecosystem for AI data collection and annotation projects. This role is critical in ensuring quality, cost efficiency, scalability, and timely delivery through external partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vendor Sourcing & Onboarding
- Identify and onboard vendors for AI data collection and annotation
- Evaluate vendors based on quality, scalability, cost, and reliability
- Build a diversified vendor pool across domains (image, text, audio, video, LLM)
2. Vendor Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for all vendor communications
- Manage day-to-day vendor operations and performance
- Ensure adherence to SLAs, timelines, and project requirements
- Handle vendor escalations and issue resolution
3. Quality & Performance Management
- Define and monitor vendor KPIs:
- Accuracy
- Throughput
- Turnaround Time (TAT)
- QA Scores
- Conduct regular audits and feedback loops
- Implement quality improvement frameworks
4. Cost Optimization & Negotiation
- Negotiate pricing and contracts with vendors
- Optimize cost per task without compromising quality
- Manage budgets and vendor payouts
5. Project Coordination
- Align vendors with internal delivery teams
- Ensure smooth execution of multi-vendor projects
- Manage workload distribution across vendors
6. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure vendors comply with data security and confidentiality standards
- Maintain contracts, NDAs, and documentation
- Ensure adherence to client and regulatory requirements
7. Scaling & Strategy
- Build scalable vendor ecosystems for large AI projects
- Identify new geographies/vendors for expansion
- Drive process improvements and automation
Key Skills & Qualifications
- 2–6 years of experience in Vendor Management / Operations / AI Data Projects
- Strong understanding of AI Data & Annotation Workflows
- Experience managing external vendors or BPO partners
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Analytical mindset with focus on quality and efficiency
- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Data Annotation / AI / ML pipelines
- Familiarity with tools like Labelbox, CVAT, Scale AI, etc.
- Startup / high-growth environment experience
