Position: Vendor Development Manager
Experience - 10–15 years in Vendor Development, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain.
Minimum 5 years handling Castings, Forgings, Machining, and Fabrication in the Crushing & Screening, Mining Equipment, Construction Equipment, Heavy Engineering, or OEM sectors.
Responsibilities and Job description
Responsible for delivering, developing, qualifying, and managing strategic suppliers for Castings, Forgings, Machined Components, Fabrications, Bought-Out Items (BOI), etc. The role focuses on achieving cost competitiveness, lead time reduction, supplier quality improvement, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with ISO Quality Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Vendor Development, Develop and onboard new suppliers for - Steel Castings, SG Iron Castings, Forgings, Precision Machining, Heavy Fabrication, Bought-Out Items (BOI), crushing equipment
• Conduct supplier capability assessments and technical audits.
• Identify alternate sources to mitigate supply risks.
• Reduce supplier dependency through supplier base expansion.
Cost Reduction - Drive annual cost reduction aspects, Process improvements, Inventory checks, timely deliverables.
Lead Time Reduction - Reduce procurement lead time , improve supplier manufacturing cycle time., Eliminate bottlenecks in supplier processes., Reduce order-to-delivery cycle and delivery adherence.
Supplier Quality Management - Monitor supplier quality performance., Improve First Time Right (FTR)., Reduce supplier rejections., Drive CAPA implementation.
Inventory Optimization - Inter-cart/Inter-process Inventory, WIP Inventory, Finished Goods Inventory at supplier end.
ISO & Quality System Compliance - Ensure supplier compliance Quality Management Systems, Process Documentation, Inspection , corrective and preventive actions
Cross-Functional Coordination - Interaction and communication with Design & Engineering, production, Quality, production, planning & Stores, logistics. Support New Product Development (NPD) through supplier readiness and PPAP approvals.
Educational Qualification
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering, MBA – operation or supply chain is added advantage
