What we are looking for
Role: Veeam backup administrator
Experience Range: 6 to 12 Years
Location: Hyderabad
Core Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with:
- Veeam Backup & Replication
- Veeam ONE (monitoring & reporting – preferred)
- Strong understanding of:
- Backup concepts (full, incremental, differential)
- Snapshot technologies
- Data retention strategies
Virtualization & Systems
- Experience with:
- VMware vSphere / ESXi
- Microsoft Hyper-V
- Windows Server environments
- Knowledge of Linux systems (basic administration preferred)
Storage & Networking
- Familiarity with:
- SAN / NAS storage systems
- RAID configurations
- Basic networking knowledge:
- TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls
Cloud & Modern Backup
- Experience with cloud backups:
- AWS / Azure
- Object storage (S3-compatible, Blob storage)
- Understanding of hybrid cloud backup strategies
Scripting & Tools
- PowerShell scripting (strongly preferred)
- Experience with automation tools is a plus
Good to Have:
Experience with:
- Tape backup systems
- Other backup tools (NetBackup, CommVault, Avamar)
- Knowledge of ransomware protection strategies
- ITIL process knowledge
Essential:
Backup & Recovery Management
- Administer and maintain Veeam Backup & Replication infrastructure.
- Configure and manage:
- Backup jobs (incremental, full, synthetic full)
- Replication jobs
- Backup copy jobs
- Ensure successful completion of daily backup jobs and troubleshoot failures.
Disaster Recovery (DR)
- Design and implement Disaster Recovery strategies.
- Perform regular backup restoration testing and DR drills.
- Manage failover and failback operations.
- Ensure defined RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) are met.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor backup environment performance and capacity.
- Troubleshoot issues related to:
- Backup failures
- Storage repositories
- Network bottlenecks
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement fixes.
Infrastructure & Integration
- Manage integration with:
- VMware vSphere / Hyper-V
- Physical servers
- NAS / SAN storage
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Veeam Cloud Connect)
- Configure backup repositories including:
- Disk storage
- Tape libraries (if applicable)
- Object storage (S3, Azure Blob)
Minimum Qualification:
- 15 years of full-time education
- Minimum percentile of 50% in 10th, 12th, UG & PG (if applicable)
