Roles and Responsibilities:
- Define end-to-end VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) architecture including standard and consolidated deployment models
- Design management and workload domain separation strategies aligned to enterprise requirements
- Architect vSphere, vSAN, and NSX-based platform services including compute, storage, and network layers
- Define network virtualization, micro-segmentation, load balancing, and security control patterns using NSX
- Establish observability, capacity planning, drift detection, and security posture management strategies
- Define Day-0/Day-1/Day-2 lifecycle management using VCF Installer and SDDM (SDDC Manager)
- Create reusable infrastructure patterns for clusters, domains, and large-scale fleet deployments
- Design automation frameworks including infrastructure-as-code, self-service provisioning, and service catalogs
- Define governance models including identity, access control, quotas, approvals, and tagging policies
- Establish SLA/SLO frameworks, capacity planning, and chargeback/cost management models using VCF operations
- Ensure security baselines and compliance monitoring across private cloud infrastructure
- Define migration strategies and landing zones for onboarding workloads into VCF platforms
- Lead architecture reviews, create reference architectures, runbooks, and technical blueprints
- Mentor platform engineers and collaborate with security, networking, application, and FinOps teams
- Provide executive-level roadmap updates and KPI reporting for platform evolution
Skills Required:
- 10-20 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, virtualization, or platform architecture roles
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
- Strong understanding of SAN storage systems and enterprise storage architecture
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Proven experience in cloud architecture design and enterprise infrastructure strategy
- Strong understanding of software architecture and system design principles
- Experience in defining infrastructure roadmaps and long-term platform strategies
- Strong knowledge of network virtualization, security architecture, and micro-segmentation (preferred)
- Experience with large-scale private cloud environments and fleet management concepts
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure lifecycle management and automation frameworks
- Experience in identity, access, and governance across enterprise platforms
- Strong leadership experience in designing enterprise-grade cloud platforms
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive-level reporting
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
