Application Architect - Remote

As we continue to lead in technological advancements, Vault is now entering a defining phase of growth with a strategic $22.5 million investment from the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC). This investment will scale Vault's SECRET Cloud and introduce new services such as the AUKUS cloud capability, directly addressing Australia's strategic national security demands. Vault is now positioned to not only strengthen its existing relationships with federal and state government agencies, but also strengthen its relationships with private sector businesses requiring secure cloud storage.To support this growth, we are bolstering our capability by adding numerous key roles that are integral to our future success. Due to Vault’s commitment to innovation and high-governance product development, we are looking for an Application Architect role to join our Delivery team to support the company's expansion. This is a high-impact position that blends strategic thinking with deep technical expertise. You’ll work closely with delivery teams, engineers, and stakeholders to define and deliver modern, scalable cloud solutions using open-source technologies. This is a remote role and is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of developing and integrating cutting-edge cloud products that protect some of Australia’s most critical data.

You will be responsible for:

• Leading the design and development of complex application projects using OpenStack, Ubuntu, Ansible, Kubernetes, and related open-source technologies.
• Providing expert analysis and guidance to support critical business and technology decisions.
• Conducting research and defining technology roadmaps to address key challenges.
• Documenting solution architecture across business, application, data, and technology domains.
• Acting as a subject matter expert in cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, containers, security).
• Translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Advocating for emerging technologies and guiding build vs. buy decisions.
• Partnering with delivery teams to align solutions with implementation.
• Shaping Vault Cloud’s overall technical direction and innovation strategy.
  
  
  

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate with:

• Technical Leadership & Architecture Expertise: Proven experience leading technical teams and designing scalable, robust solutions.
• Business Acumen: Ability to translate business requirements into technical user stories, epics, and actionable release plans.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
• At least 8 years of experience delivering private, hybrid, or public cloud solutions, with expertise in at least two of the following: Enterprise Data Centre Networking, Network Security, Kubernetes, Compute (OpenStack) and Automation Toolkits.
• Adaptability and rapid prototyping skills, enabling quick proof-of-concept development for new technologies or approaches.
