We are looking for a Data Engineer with 3+ years of experience to design, build, and scale our data warehousing and reporting infrastructure from scratch. This is a critical role where you will define the 0→1 journey of our data ecosystem, working with large-scale datasets and cloud-based solutions to deliver actionable insights.

This role is Work from Office in Bengaluru, India.

Key Responsibilities

1. Own & Build the Data Warehouse (0→1)

• Architect, develop, and optimize a scalable data warehouse from the ground up.
• Design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines to integrate, transform, and store data efficiently.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and governance across all pipelines and storage layers.
• Optimize data storage, partitioning, and indexing strategies for performance and scalability.

2. Develop & Maintain Reporting Infrastructure

• Design and automate dashboards/reports using Apache Superset (or other BI tools like Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
• Work with stakeholders to define KPIs and reporting metrics to support decision-making.
• Ensure real-time and batch reporting needs are met with high performance and reliability.

3. Optimize Data for Performance & Scale

• Write and optimize complex SQL queries for analytical and reporting workloads.
• Monitor, debug, and resolve data issues proactively.
• Develop data validation and monitoring strategies to maintain accuracy.

4. Drive Data Strategy & Collaboration

• Work closely with engineering, product, and business teams to understand data needs and deliver scalable solutions.
• Define and enforce data best practices across the organization.
• Collaborate with ML and geospatial teams to support data-driven climate models.

5. Leverage AWS & Modern Data Stack

• Design and implement solutions using AWS data services (RDS, S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena) or equivalent cloud technologies.
• Evaluate and adopt best-in-class data engineering tools for efficiency and scalability.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and incorporate new technologies when needed.

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related fields.
• Proven experience in building and scaling data warehouses and reporting layers from scratch.
• Expertise in SQL and query optimization for analytical workloads.
• Strong experience with BI/reporting tools like Apache Superset, Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
• Hands-on experience with AWS data stack (RDS, S3, Athena, Redshift, Glue) or equivalent cloud technologies.
• Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data pipeline automation.
• Proactive problem solver who takes ownership of data challenges.
• Strong communication and team player mindset, able to collaborate across teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Python or Spark for data transformation.
• Knowledge of geospatial data processing (useful for climate models but not mandatory).
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
• Prior experience in Climate Tech, carbon markets, or sustainability analytics.
