About the role


As a Vantage Senior Claims Specialist, you will provide complete claim management services for policyholders across multiple lines of business within the oversight of the Head of Claims. This role investigates, evaluates, and manages liability claims of varying complexity and severity across various product types and markets, focusing on the healthcare and casualty lines of business and some financial/professional lines. Additionally, the role supports the Underwriting Business Unit by liaising with account and broker/agent representatives, providing frequent, in-depth exposure analysis to senior leadership, and participating in marketing efforts at industry events and conferences. The mission of the Vantage Claims team is to add creativity to tech-enabled efficiency and robust analytics to address risks others avoid. This role reports to our Bermuda Head of Claims and is a remote opportunity for the appropriate candidate.


The base salary expectation for this role is between $90,000 and $120,000. The actual base salary and title for the selected candidate may be higher, commensurate with the candidate's experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities


  • With oversight of the Head of Claims, evaluates, manages and recommends expense and indemnity reserves on claims for all lines of business, focused primarily on health care and casualty claims, including oversight of all phases of litigation.
  • Reviews and analyzes coverage, drafts coverage letters, and recommends appropriate communication of coverage positions to insureds, brokers and agents as necessary.
  • Communicates regularly with insureds, as well as internal and external stakeholders regarding individual claim developments and strategy.
  • Provides superior customer service to, and proactively builds strong relationship with, all appropriate representatives of insured accounts including their internal leadership, brokers and agents in order to maximize the competitive advantage derived from the Vantage Claims value proposition.
  • Implements Vantage Claims Best Practices for proper and consistent claim handling performance, compliance and achievement of business goals and drives efficient and proactive litigation defense strategies by effectively communicating with the insured and defense counsel.
  • Thoroughly, clearly and thoughtfully documents claim files with all relevant factual and evaluative information in compliance with company policies, best practices and applicable regulatory authority where necessary.
  • Demonstrates superior subject matter knowledge and negotiation skills to affect appropriate claim outcome through direct negotiation and the utilization of alternative dispute resolution as necessary.
  • Works closely with the Head of Claims to proactively drive claim development and look for creative ways to achieve optimal results on every file.
  • Follows Vantage reserving and reporting protocols and recommends appropriate actions to avoid unexpected developments and outcomes.
  • Identifies issues and trends within the various lines of business and regularly communicates those to insureds, Vantage Claims leadership, Underwriting partners and actuaries as appropriate.
  • Follows all escalation and internal reporting protocols as required under appropriate circumstances for those cases which present significant potential exposure.
  • Attends marketing, account renewal, and reinsurance meetings as appropriate in order to communicate the Vantage claims handling philosophy and value proposition.
  • Unfailingly treats all internal and external stakeholders and business partners with respect and demonstrates a positive attitude and collegial approach to their work at all times.
  • In sum, the Vantage Claims Team services a rapidly growing business charged with providing best in class technical claims services to its customers through deep subject matter expertise, significant industry experience and data-driven and technology enabled solutions; Vantage Claims Specialists are empowered to work independently and proactively to manage their accounts and claims within their individual authority as efficiently and effectively as possible in order to deliver on the Vantage brand promise of outstanding customer experience without exception.


Ideal Candidate Profile


  • Bachelor’s Degree required,
  • Minimum of eight (6) years of experience in the handling and management of liability claims, with particular experience in health care and casualty claims.
  • Significant experience demonstrating technical, operations, and management skills in the claims area.
  • Experience in collaborating with internal stakeholders such a underwriters and actuaries.
  • Proven ability to implement claims handling efficiencies and develop a personal skill set.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and work independently are essential.
  • High positivity, integrity, and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-driven orientation.
  • Developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment. Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up.
