About the role

Position Summary: 

The Skid Steer Helper/Operator supports maintenance and facility operations by safely operating skid steer equipment and assisting with general labor tasks. This role is responsible for material handling, cleanup, and ensuring efficient movement of materials throughout the facility and grounds. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operate skid steer equipment to move materials, debris, and supplies as needed 
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting materials across the facility 
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on skid steer equipment (fueling, cleaning, checking fluids, etc.) 
  • Follow all safety procedures and ensure proper use of equipment at all times 
  • Assist maintenance team with general labor tasks, including cleanup, organizing, and site preparation 
  • Remove waste, scrap, and debris from production and outdoor areas 
  • Support facility upkeep, including snow removal, landscaping, or lot maintenance as needed 
  • Communicate equipment issues or safety concerns to supervisor promptly 
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred 
  • Previous experience operating skid steer or similar heavy equipment preferred 
  • Basic knowledge of equipment safety and maintenance procedures 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team 
  • Strong attention to safety and detail 
  • Valid driver’s license may be required

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods 
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment multiple times per shift 
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions 
  • Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception 
  • Industrial and outdoor work environment 
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions 
  • Operation of heavy machinery and moving equipment 
  • May require early mornings, evenings, or weekend work depending on business needs 
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and hearing protection
