Job Summary
Provides professional nursing care for patients in the physician’s office and for outpatients receiving treatments, examinations and diagnostic testing. Acts as clinical liaison between assigned clinical staff in the Clinical Manager. Works closely with staff to ensure that Meaningful Use Measures and The Joint Commission standards are met.
Responsibilities
• Provides direct patient care and assists providers with examinations, office procedures, EKG procedure, and minor surgical procedures, immunizations, injections, testing, venipuncture and other processes related to direct patient care as necessary.
• Completes chart prep prior to patient arrival.
• Documents initial nursing histories, assesses patient’s condition and develops individual care plans for patients in the office setting and performs other nursing administrative duties.
• Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
• Documents all activities as required by professional licensure. Maintains patient files.
• Provides patient education as necessary, including prescription medication samples as directed by provider.
• Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate clinical personnel.
• Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families.
• Ensures that designated area(s) meet Meaningful Use Measures and The Joint Commission standards.
• Makes certain that prescription medication refills are facilitated to outside pharmacy as directed by appropriate licensed practitioner.
• Ensures that all correspondence in the clinical record is documented, inclusive of dispensing pharmaceutical medication samples as directed by the appropriate licensed practitioner.
• Oversees that staff are dispensing and documenting returns of sample medications as required by The Joint Commission.
• Assists the office in scheduling patient testing and procedures as necessary.
• Reviews test results with physicians and coordinates resolutions as directed by physician.
• Assists with scheduling of patient appointments, testing and surgery dates.
• Ensure return patient telephone calls are made in a timely fashion, including review of all patient callbacks throughout clinic.
• Provides assistance with referrals, pre-authorizations, patient callbacks, filing, collections, etc. as needed to ensure patient needs are met.
• Ensures appropriate training of new hires in assigned area(s) by providing orientation, completing competencies required, and training new staff.
• Coordinate with appropriate sources such as IT to ensure employee success with transition to Physician Practices.
• Demonstrates willingness to be cross-trained and work all departments in designated area.
• Responsible for handling initial minor complaints from physicians and patients.
• Promptly reports all complaints to the Clinical Manager of Physician Practices for further investigation and resolution.
Core Duties
• Coordinate for Drug Rep visits to the clinic according to Policy.
• Guide and ensure Huddle participation completed daily to promote communication throughout the clinic.
• Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
• Aware of budget and purchases made for the clinic to discuss on a monthly and as needed basis with Manager.
• Complete weekly report to Clinical Manager to include number of patients seen, staffing needs and changes, patient satisfaction survey completion, lunch punches and report any other significant findings.
• Daily maintain and submit weekly lead standard work to Manager. Monthly update and report scorecard to Manager.
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, supports quality assessment and performance improvement processes, adheres to safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient ranging from newborn to geriatric.

• Demonstrates knowledge of special needs and the normal patterns of growth and development of the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult ,and geriatric population as documented in care plans, follow-up and education provided to patient and patient care provider.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and literature.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Previous clinical experience

Education
• High School Diploma or GED
• Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate Program (Required)
Credentials
• Licensed Practical Nurse (Required)
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (preferred)
