TITLE: Substitute Bus Driver Pool
DUTIES: The Bus Driver essential duties include:
• Driving the school bus on scheduled routes and/or trips in support of district approved activities
under all weather conditions, in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington;
• Inspecting and cleaning the school buses and related equipment,
• Performing operational and safety inspections of the school bus and related equipment.
• Maintaining the safety and well-being of each child and the ability to perform basic first
aid/CPR as necessary.
• Operate and service all school bus equipment and accessories including but not limited to fire
extinguishers, highway warning kits, snow chains, sanders, first aid kits, and body fluid kits.
• Successful completion of school bus driver training programs and courses established by the
state superintendent of public instruction or the school district.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include:
• A valid driver’s license and at least 21 years of age
• A valid Washington State school bus driver certificate,
• Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check,
• The applicant must pass a random drug test as required by law and may be required to undergo
a post-offer medical examination.
• The candidate is required to meet the physical and mental standards necessary to perform the
duties, which include the ability to assist ill or physically impaired students to enter or exit the
school bus through the passenger service door.
• Verification of a current and valid medical examiner’s certificate and first aid card are required.
• Applicants should have common courtesy in dealing with students, parents, district staff
members, and the general public.
• A High School Diploma or GED is strongly preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: This position will be scheduled to work as needed. You will be called as
determined by the needs of the Transportation Center. The salary range of pay rates will be $21.51/hr.
to $37.60/hr.
