RESPONSIBILITIES OF A PRESCHOOL TEACHER:

  •     Supervises, implements, and directs a classroom within an early learning program.
  •     Provides guidance to assistant and co-teachers within the classroom and/or center.
  •     Complete all daily reports on children within the classroom, showing competency with assigned technology.
  •     Exhibit sound judgement in challenging and adverse scenarios, prioritizing child safety.
  •     Collaborate with peers and be effective in working in team-based environment.
  •     Understands and maintains ADHS state licensing rules and regulations and YMCA childcare program standards.
  •     Develops positive relationships and uses positive tone & communication with children and parents.
  •     Preserves quality condition of all supplies, equipment, materials, and cleanliness of site.
  •     Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports, as necessary.
  •     Attend staff meetings and training courses as required.
  •     Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A PRESCHOOL TEACHER:

  •      18 years of age or older
  •      Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and negative TB test (must possess prior to working with children)
  •      12 months qualifying experience in childcare field and 6 credit hours in the childcare field or 60 documented training hours.
  •      Reliable transportation to commute to assigned centers.
  •       Able to be flexible and work with multiple teams.
  •       Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making.
  •      Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisor.
  •       Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
