About the Department
The full pay range for the position is $100,736 to $151,105.42 per year with an anticipated starting rate between entry ($100,736 ) and midpoint ($125,921.18) of the range. It’s essential to note that the actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on several factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, certifications, training and internal equity considerations.
Purpose of Role:
Assist in managing Maintenance of Way operations, personnel and contracts supporting organizational goals.

Position Duties
Associate degree in business administration, transportation management or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in:
- Maintenance operations support and coordination.
- Staff supervision and training.
- Contract and vendor coordination.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
A valid Arizona Driver's License with an acceptable driving record upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications
- Assist with management of operations within area of responsibility to develop, enhance or sustain quality services by providing budget and program oversight; resolve complex issues; and develop and communicate department and individual expectations, policies, procedures and short-term operational plans.
- Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance and addressing issues, conducting interviews and making hiring decisions.
- Serve as a liaison between the team and upper management, conveying information and feedback in both directions.
- Assist with administering and coordinating contracts and provide input on contractor performance reviews and assist with determining compliance.
- Participate in and oversee various review, assessment and inspection activities.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of:
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance oversight and program development processes.
- Comprehensive understanding of staff training methods.
- Working knowledge of track maintenance, overhead catenary system, sub stations, signaling systems and communication systems.
- Familiarity with performance evaluation and personnel management theories.
- Understanding of communication and feedback processes between teams and management.
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance assessment and inspection practices.
- Intermediate grasp of maintenance planning and issue resolution methodologies.
- Using a computer and related software.
Skill in:
- Assisting with overseeing daily operations and schedules.
- Supervising staff and monitoring work priorities.
- Supporting contract administration and compliance activities.
- Coordinating maintenance efforts between teams and upper management.
- Conducting inspections and assessments.
- Resolving operational problems collaboratively.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to exchange information and receive work direction.
Other Qualifications
Work is performed in a combination of office/vehicle/outdoor setting with routine use of standard office and specialty equipment. This role requires light physical exertion; exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly or requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

This role also experiences weekly exposure to electrical hazards; monthly exposure to mechanical hazards, noise and vibration, explosives, physical hazards and physical danger or abuse; and seasonal exposure to respiratory hazards, extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity and communicable diseases.
