Valero is seeking a motivated and curious Data Scientist 1 to support the development and deployment of data-driven and AI-enabled solutions across our refining and commercial operations. In this role, you’ll work hands-on with data to help build, test, and improve models that support smarter, faster decision-making. You’ll collaborate closely with experienced data scientists, engineers, and business partners while growing your skills in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data engineering in a real-world, production environment.

You’ll work alongside experienced data scientists to help translate analytical requirements into production-ready solutions. In this role, you’ll contribute to the end-to-end data science process across use cases such as process optimization and predictive forecasting. You’ll play a key role in supporting the development and deployment of AI solutions across the full model lifecycle.

As a technical trailblazer, you’ll stay ahead of the curve by exploring emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies, continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with data science at Valero.

  • Support the solution of complex analytical challenges across Valero’s business units by contributing to AI and data science solutions that deliver actionable insights into operational and commercial questions.
  • Work alongside experienced data scientists to support the interpretation of data analysis and models, helping ensure results are clearly understood and appropriately applied.
  • Process and transform structured and unstructured data into formats suitable for advanced analytics and modeling.
  • Assist in the development, training, and validation of machine learning models to support the implementation of AI-driven solutions across the organization.
  • Collaborate with team members to support statistical and data analysis projects, learning and applying best practices in analytics and model development.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of best practices for implementing advanced analytical solutions at Valero.
  • Develop and grow technical proficiency in AI tools and platforms, and collaborate with information systems teams to support system optimization and enhancement efforts.
  • Support process improvement initiatives by leveraging data-driven insights to help reduce costs and improve efficiency across commercial and operational workflows.

     

    This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
