LOCATION: Sumter, SC
Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and overall functionality of buildings, equipment, and systems. This role ensures that facilities are safe, efficient, and compliant with all applicable regulations by leading maintenance staff, coordinating work orders, and managing preventive maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians and contractors
- Assign work orders, set priorities, and monitor task completion
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members
- Promote a safe work environment and enforce safety policies and procedures
- Maintenance Operations
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical)
- Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and ensure timely repairs
- Maintain uptime and reliability of facility equipment and infrastructure
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve potential problems
- Facilities Management
- Ensure buildings and grounds are properly maintained, clean, and functional
- Coordinate facility upgrades, renovations, and improvement projects
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee contracted services
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and local regulations
- Maintain records related to safety inspections, maintenance activities, and regulatory requirements
- Conduct safety audits and support incident investigations
- Budgeting & Inventory
- Assist with maintenance budgeting and cost control initiatives
- Track and manage maintenance supplies, tools, and spare parts inventory
- Recommend cost-saving improvements and efficiency initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or technical degree preferred
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a facilities, manufacturing, or industrial environment
- 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) preferred
