About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and result-oriented Utility Engineer with 5+ of experience in electrical & mechanical maintenance, utilities management, and automation systems within large-scale manufacturing environments.
The role involves leading plant maintenance operations, ensuring high equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the plant maintenance function (Electrical, Mechanical & Utilities) to ensure uninterrupted operations of production equipment and systems.
- Plan, implement, and monitor preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve machine uptime and reliability.
- Manage HT/LT electrical systems, transformers (up to 1250 KVA, 11kV/440V), DG sets, ACB/VCB panels, and PLC/SCADA-based automation systems.
- Oversee maintenance of press machines, CNC laser/plasma cutting machines, welding equipment, paint booths/ovens, shot blasting machines, and other fabrication equipment.
- Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of utilities including compressors, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, ETP/STP, and RO systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as TPM, 5S, Kaizen, RCA, and ensure ISO compliance.
- Ensure adherence to EHS and statutory safety standards, including BIS, IEC, NBC, NFPA, and CEIG regulations.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as MTTR, MTBF, OEE, and Plan vs Actual.
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians through training and capability building.
- Manage vendor relationships, AMCs, and spare parts inventory to optimize maintenance costs.
- Implement and utilize digital tools such as CMMS, SAP, or Excel dashboards for tracking maintenance performance and reporting.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in plant/equipment maintenance
- Experience in metal fabrication, heavy engineering, automotive, packaging, or process industries preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of HT/LT systems, PLC/SCADA, VFDs, automation systems, and utilities
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting:
- Electrical circuits
- Hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- CNC machines and heavy press equipment
- Familiarity with TPM, predictive maintenance tools, energy management, and ISO standards
Managerial Skills
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage audits, compliance, and cross-functional coordination
- Cost optimization and decision-making mindset
