Performs custodial maintenance duties, including cage processing and related services, to provide proper care to a section or unit of a building.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cstrong%3EPosition Key Accountabilities:%3C/strong%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cul%3E%3Cli%3EProvides daily animal care, including cage changing and delivering food and water. Provides routine cleaning and sanitation of the work area.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EProcesses dirty equipment through the automated cage wash facility.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ECleans large animal caging as directed and sanitizes rooms, equipment, and hallways.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ELearns and assists in the animal census and other required documentation.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EOperates washers and dryers to wash and dry scrubs and other items. Folds and packages laundry for staff members to pick up.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EObserves animals for changes in health status and notifies the supervisor or veterinary group as appropriate.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3ELearns proper techniques and skills required to care for laboratory animals through classes and hands-on training.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EMonitors and stocks PPE supplies; assists with facility maintenance, floors, and general support.%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3EPerforms other duties as assigned.%3C/li%3E%3C/ul%3E

Certification/Skills:

  • Computer literacy required to perform daily duties.

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
