Job details:
About the Role
We are looking for a UX Designer to shape the end-to-end experience of our AI surveillance, edge computing, and enterprise products. You will own user research, interaction design, and prototyping for complex workflows used by government operators, security teams, and enterprise administrators. The ideal candidate balances research rigor with strong visual craft, and is comfortable designing data-dense interfaces where clarity, speed, and trust matter more than decoration.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Discovery
- Conduct user interviews, site visits, and contextual inquiries with operators, administrators, and field users.
- Synthesize research into personas, journey maps, jobs-to-be-done, and opportunity areas.
- Run usability tests on prototypes and live products; translate findings into prioritized design improvements.
- Partner with product managers to validate problem statements before solutioning.
Interaction and Visual Design
- Design end-to-end flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups for web dashboards, mobile apps, and on-device interfaces.
- Create and maintain design systems, component libraries, and interaction patterns that scale across products.
- Design for data-dense screens: video feeds, event timelines, alert queues, maps, configuration panels, and analytics dashboards.
- Balance aesthetic quality with the operational realities of 24/7 control room and field use (accessibility, color in low-light environments, glanceability).
Prototyping and Validation
- Build interactive prototypes in Figma, Framer, or code where needed to communicate intent and test ideas.
- Define micro-interactions, motion, and state behavior in collaboration with engineering.
- Specify designs with the rigor engineers need: annotated flows, edge cases, empty states, error states, and accessibility notes.
Collaboration
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, ML teams, and customer success to translate technical capabilities into usable experiences.
- Present design work to leadership and customers; defend decisions with research and rationale.
- Contribute to product strategy by bringing user insight into roadmap discussions.
Quality and Consistency
- Own design QA during development; review builds and partner with engineers to ensure fidelity.
- Maintain documentation for design patterns, voice and tone, and accessibility standards.
- Advocate for inclusive design and WCAG-aligned accessibility across the product.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of UX design experience shipping production software, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end work (not just visual polish).
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Human Factors, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping) and adjacent tools (FigJam, Miro, or similar).
- Solid grounding in interaction design principles, information architecture, and visual hierarchy.
- Working understanding of how the web works: HTML, CSS, responsive behavior, and the constraints of common frontend frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to articulate design decisions with clarity and confidence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for one or more of: surveillance/security operations, control rooms, geospatial or map-based interfaces, IoT/device management, or government and enterprise SaaS.
- Familiarity with designing for AI-driven products — confidence scores, model uncertainty, human-in-the-loop review, and explainability.
- Experience with design systems at scale (tokens, theming, multi-product consistency).
- Comfort with motion design, prototyping in code (HTML/CSS/JS or React), or basic data visualization principles.
- Accessibility certification or demonstrated WCAG 2.1/2.2 expertise.
- Exposure to regulated environments and compliance-aware design (DPDPA, GDPR, audit trails, role-based access patterns).
What Success Looks Like in the First 6 Months
- Delivered at least one major end-to-end design — from research through shipped product.
- Established or significantly improved the design system / component library.
- Built a research practice with consistent cadence: interviews, usability tests, and synthesized insights feeding the roadmap.
- Become a trusted partner to product and engineering, raising the design bar across the team.
Portfolio Expectations
Candidates must submit a portfolio showing 2–3 case studies that demonstrate:
- A clear problem statement and the user research behind it.
- Process: sketches, wireframes, iterations, and trade-offs considered.
- Final design with rationale, not just screenshots.
- Outcomes — what shipped, what was learned, and what measurable impact it had.
