Role Description The Urology Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at Fortis Healthcare in Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru North. This role involves supporting urologists and the clinical team in preparing patients and treatment areas for diagnostic and therapeutic urology procedures, such as cystoscopies, catheterizations, and minor surgical interventions. The Urology Technician assists in handling, cleaning, and sterilizing urology instruments and equipment, setting up procedure rooms, and ensuring adherence to infection control and safety protocols. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate patient records, documenting procedure details, checking equipment functionality, and managing consumables and supplies. The role also requires close communication with nursing staff and physicians, guiding patients through pre- and post-procedure instructions, and contributing to a calm, respectful, and patient-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Relevant technical training or diploma in medical or surgical technology, preferably with exposure to urology or operating room procedures.
- Knowledge of urology instruments, basic anatomy and physiology, and standard operating protocols for common urology procedures.
- Skills in equipment handling, sterilization processes, infection control, and safe maintenance of clinical workspaces.
- Ability to accurately record patient data, maintain procedure logs, and follow hospital documentation and compliance standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and support staff.
- Capacity to work in a fast-paced clinical environment, follow instructions precisely, and respond calmly in urgent situations.
- Basic computer literacy for hospital information systems and familiarity with electronic medical records is an advantage.
- Prior experience as a technician in a hospital or specialty clinic, especially in urology or related surgical disciplines, is preferred.
