Job Summary:
The Import Logistics Head will be responsible for managing and overseeing the complete import logistics operations for the electronic manufacturing business. The role includes handling international shipments, customs clearance, freight coordination, vendor management, compliance, inventory planning, and ensuring timely availability of imported materials for production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Import Operations Management
- Manage end-to-end import logistics activities for raw materials, components, and finished goods.
- Coordinate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, CHA, and shipping lines.
- Ensure timely customs clearance and delivery of imported consignments.
- Monitor shipment schedules and minimize transit delays.
Customs & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, DGFT norms, customs laws, and government policies.
- Handle documentation related to BOE, invoices, packing lists, COO, licenses, and other import-related documents.
- Coordinate with customs authorities and consultants for smooth clearance operations.
Vendor & Freight Management
- Negotiate freight rates and logistics contracts with shipping lines and logistics partners.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders and transport vendors.
- Monitor vendor performance and optimize logistics costs.
Inventory & Production Coordination
- Work closely with procurement, planning, and production teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Track shipment status and maintain inventory planning for imported materials.
- Minimize stock shortages and excess inventory situations.
Cost Optimization
- Identify opportunities for logistics cost reduction and process improvements.
- Monitor import duties, freight expenses, demurrage, detention, and warehousing costs.
- Implement strategies for efficient logistics operations.
