Job Description
Service Foods, a leading food distribution company in New Zealand, is seeking
a highly skilled and motivated Management Accountant based in India. The ideal candidate will have
a strong background in accounting and finance, holding a CA or CPA qualification. The candidate will
be responsible for key financial functions, including month-end accounting and financial reporting,
and will work closely with our finance team to enhance the efficiency of our financial processes.
Key Responsibilities (include But Are Not Limited To)
- Month-End Accounting:
- Prepare and manage all month-end accounting processes, including accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
- Ensure all financial records are accurate and up to date.
- Work papers and Reconciliation:
- Prepare detailed work papers to support financial statements, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding.
- Create and maintain complex accrual and provision accounts, making them easy to understand and review.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Lock in the balance sheet in a timely manner.
- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support:
- Assist the Accounts Payable team with reconciliation and cut-off procedures, ensuring all invoices and payments are accurately recorded and processed.
- Provide support and guidance in using Beanworks, our automated Accounts Payable software, ensuring smooth and efficient operation.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable team to ensure timely and accurate receipt processing and management of outstanding balances.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial reports, comparing actuals against budgets, identifying variances, and providing explanations.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Internal Audit:
- Complete internal audit functions to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and financial processes.
- Identify areas of risk and inefficiencies, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Audit Support:
- Create and manage files for external auditors, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors during year-end audits, providing necessary information and support.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with the finance team and finance manager to ensure smooth and efficient financial operations.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.
- Assist in training and supporting other members of the finance team as needed.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, particularly around cut-off procedures, to improve the speed and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Implement best practices to ensure the finance function operates efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain Confidentiality:
- Deal with sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner, ensuring confidentiality is maintained including customer or proprietary information, trade secrets etc.
- Continuously seek opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the overall experience for customers.
- Provide feedback and insights to support continuous improvement across the Organisation.
- Health and Safety requirements:
- Maintain personal hygiene standards and adhere to food safety guidelines when handling goods.
- Understand and follow procedures in case of emergencies involving warehouse equipment such as accidents or breakdowns, including knowing who to contact for assistance.
- Manage fatigue by taking mandatory rest breaks and adhering to break times during work hours.
- Maintain open communication with management regarding any safety concerns or incidents encountered during warehouse operations.
- Strict adherence to Personnel Health agreement, Food Safety and quality policies and processes.
Key Attributes
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) qualification is essential.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of financial accounting and reporting.
- Experience working in a global or outsourced finance team is preferred.
Skills And Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with Beanworks or similar automated Accounts Payable software is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
