POSITION SUMMARY
To establish a Security Officer consisting of experienced and trained retired law enforcement, honorably discharged military, and/or correctional officer experience. This position is a non-enforcement position to keep our campuses and buildings safe from outside threats such as active shooter/intruders, suspicious persons/unwelcomed guests.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Activities include but are not limited to the following:
· Provide for the security and safety of all students, staff and visitors
· Protect agency property and maintain order in and around the sites from any outside threats
· Monitor doors, patrol agency property
· Investigate all crimes and incidents occurring on agency properties under the authority of the Director and/or Vice President of Security, in conjunction with school campus and clinic administrators
· Advise administrators of any circumstances or situations that may create a potential harm to persons, or damage to or loss of agency property
· Report all violations of law, regulations and policies to the Director of Security.
· Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
· Act as a liaison with police and fire officials when response is necessary
· Screen all outside persons (non-staff) entering a building when in a position to do so or if front desk staff aren’t available, and take necessary action to prohibit loitering and trespassing on agency property.
· Maintain post integrity by being highly visible at all times and refraining from unnecessary fraternization with other officers/employees.
· Maintain a balance with students and clients when interaction is necessary, we are service oriented agency, compassion, patience, and mentoring is expected.
· Develop a common working relationship with other staff, establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilated new employees to the agency’s culture, mission and values.
· When requested, participate in meetings with agency administrators and leadership
· Act swiftly and cooperatively when responding to major disruptions or calls for assistance
· Understand agency rules, regulations and policies
· Complete all required training as directed by your immediate supervisor
· Prepare reports and submit to the Director of Security on any incidents, suspicious activity, accidents, etc.
· Follow HIPPA requirements as prescribed and maintain confidentiality at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
· Associate’s degree in any discipline.
· Pass any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing.
· Must possess one or more of the following:
Service in the active duty military, military reserves or National Guard.
Service in auxiliary police or police cadets.
Meaningful and verifiable work history.
Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience.
· Travel is required. Must have valid NYS Driver’s License.
