UPMC Passavant is hiring a Full‑Time Mobility Care Attendant to support patients on our 3 Main Acute Care Unit. This role provides essential patient care and mobility support, working closely with Nursing leadership and in partnership with Physical and Occupational Therapy to promote safety, comfort, and restorative healing for our acute care population.
The Mobility Care Attendant delivers hands‑on patient care and observation services in accordance with established policies and procedures, supporting high‑quality, compassionate care while consistently modeling UPMC’s core values.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and observation as directed by the RN, including:
- Activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, grooming, and transporting
- Ambulating, turning, repositioning, and assisting with mobility plans
- Assisting with intake and output, daily weights, and patient comfort measures
- Partner with Physical and Occupational Therapy to support mobility assessments, daily care plans, and patient progress
- Coach and safely ambulate patients according to individualized treatment plans
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic patient environment through routine safety checks, room organization, linen changes, and equipment cleaning
- Provide fall prevention support, constant observation, and one‑on‑one supervision/companionship when needed
- Monitor patient status and promptly report changes or concerns to the RN
- Interact regularly with patients and families, providing reassurance and support
- Deliver patient nourishments, assist with meal trays, and distribute patient items as appropriate
- Obtain, stock, and distribute supplies and patient‑care equipment within role scope
- Assist with basic clerical tasks and unit support activities, including responding to phones and supporting patient transport
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures, including standard precautions and bloodborne pathogen protocols
- Respond appropriately to emergent situations within the scope of the Care Attendant role
- Report equipment malfunctions and support efficient unit operations
- Demonstrate effective communication, teamwork, accountability, and respect in all interactions
- Actively participate in feedback, learning, and performance improvement activities
- Perform system‑wide competencies/behaviors and other duties as assigned
