Role Title: Legal Counsel UPL SAS
How Does Your Workday Look Like
As a Legal Counsel UPL SAS in Mumbai, India your key responsibilities will be.
- Contracting & Non-Litigation Work:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements such as supply contracts, distribution agreements, service provider agreements, NDAs, LOIs, and inter- company agreements.
- Providing legal advisory support to business functions on day-to-day matters.
- Assisting in compliance with applicable laws including Insecticides Act/Rules, FCO, Legal Metrology, Labour Codes, DPDPA, and other sectoral regulations.
- Supporting policy drafting, SOP development, and internal governance Litigation & Dispute Management:
- Coordinating and managing civil, criminal, regulatory, and commercial litigation with external counsel.
- Preparing litigation notes, case briefs, complaints, affidavits, responses, and other filings.
- Supporting internal fact-finding, evidence collection, and investigation documentation.
- Preparing management-level summaries for high-stake matters.
- Internal Stakeholder Management:
- Working closely with Registration, sales, marketing, supply chain, operations, HR, and finance teams to support business decisions.
- Ensuring alignment with legal/compliance standards across business functions.
- Maintaining Contract trackers, litigation dashboards, and compliance monitoring sheets.
- Risk Mitigation & Compliance:
- Identifying potential legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Ensuring timely closure of legal/compliance queries and STAKEHOLDERS
You would work in close collaboration with competent and wonderful teams such across UPL Family members that have helped establish the UPL legacy over the years. You will also work with law firms from time to We are seeking a candidate with an LLB/LLM from a reputed university 4-7 years of PQE with strong exposure to both corporate advisory and litigation.
- The ideal candidate should have experience in law firms, corporate legal teams, or a mix of both.
- Possess strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and interpretation skills.
- They should be adept at handling high-stake matters, regulatory issues, and sensitive disputes, and have a good understanding of compliance frameworks, contract lifecycle, and litigation strategy.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with senior stakeholders are essential.
- Experience in agrochemical, manufacturing, FMCG, or regulated industry sectors would be a plus.
