Role Description The Upholstery Sample Maker is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru. This role is responsible for producing high-quality upholstery samples that accurately represent design specifications, materials, and finishing standards. Day-to-day tasks include measuring and cutting fabrics, foams, and other upholstery materials, assembling and stitching sample pieces, and ensuring consistency in seams, padding, and overall finish. The role involves interpreting technical drawings, sample requests, and design guidelines, coordinating with designers and production teams, and maintaining organized sample records. The Upholstery Sample Maker also ensures proper use and maintenance of tools and machines, adheres to safety and quality protocols, and supports continuous improvement in sample-making processes.
Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in upholstery, including fabric cutting, stitching, padding, and finishing for furniture or related products.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, design specifications, and measurement details accurately.
- Experience working with upholstery tools and machinery (e.g., sewing machines, staplers, cutters) and following safe operating practices.
- Attention to detail and quality, with the ability to produce clean, consistent, and repeatable samples under time constraints.
- Good organization and record-keeping skills to track materials, sample versions, and design changes.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with designers, production staff, and supervisors.
- Previous experience as an upholstery maker, sample maker, or similar role in furniture or textile manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Basic educational qualification in a relevant trade or vocational program; additional training in upholstery, textiles, or furniture design is a plus.
