Assistant Biotechnologist

The UPASI Tea Research Foundation (UPASI TRF) invites applications for the post of Assistant Biotechnologist at its Research Station located at Valparai, Tamil Nadu. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the Biotechnology Division in conducting research on various aspects of tea cultivation, manufacturing, and pest management. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Assisting in the implementation of biotechnological techniques for improving tea quality and productivity - Carrying out laboratory experiments and field trials related to tissue culture, molecular breeding, and molecular diagnostics - Analyzing data and preparing reports on research findings - Providing technical support to tea growers and industry stakeholders - Participating in capacity-building programs and extension activities The ideal candidate should possess a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a research or industry setting. Candidates with a strong background in plant tissue culture, molecular biology, and bioinformatics will be preferred. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and the local language (Tamil) are essential.

Established in 1926, UPASI Tea Research Foundation has been rendering yeomen service to the south Indian tea industry for the last 9 decades. Research on all aspects of tea cultivation, manufacturing, nutrition management and pest management is carried out at the UPASI TRF.
