About the role

The Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Pre-Doctoral Associate position. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to three years. The successful candidate will work closely with Batten School faculty members on their research and policy engagement work. Primary responsibilities will include assisting with data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation for academic publications and policy briefs. The candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to course development and teaching, as well as engage in other aspects of the Batten School's mission. Applicants should have a strong background in quantitative and qualitative research methods, excellent communication and writing skills, and an interest in public policy and leadership. A Master's degree is required, and applicants should be enrolled in or have recently completed a PhD program in a relevant field such as economics, political science, sociology, or public policy.
