About the role

The candidates should ideally have some prior experience in organising events. Knowledge of, and particularly participation or organisation experience of hackathons would be a plus. It would also help to explain the candidates interest on hackathon organisation. The candidates should be studying in the faculty of social sciences. Selected candidates will help co-develop and organise a social sciences faculty wide data and design hackathon. This will involve attending some meetings, working with a group, and conducting independent research. There are 10 candidates we are expecting to recruit, who will work together to (i) develop criteria that a panel will use to assess the projects, (ii) establish a set of working principles and the structure of the hackathon, (iii) develop strategies for team organisation. Each student will be expected to work for around 10 hours in total. After the event, we would also encourage candidates to participate in writing a paper on the organisation of the hackathon. This activity will be voluntary, although we expect this will be a positive learning experience for all involved.
