Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Learns the daily workflow of both andrology and IVF laboratories. Learns to prepare for and perform clinical andrology and embryology procedures and how to complete administrative laboratory tasks. Completes an apprenticeship that requires a significant proportion of on-the-job training and allows advancing into higher level roles once key IVF laboratory procedures are mastered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Learns to perform daily andrology lab start-up and shutdown processes, and how to greet and room Andrology patients. Learns to prepare sperm for both intra-uterine insemination and in vitro fertilization and performs sperm cryopreservation.
  • Learns to perform daily IVF lab start-up and shutdown processes. Learns to ensure that pre-procedure IVF lab planning is complete, including ordering pre-tested consumables, stocking the laboratory, gassing out dishes, aliquotting media, pH testing, labeling/verifying embryo culture dishes, and making embryo culture dishes.
  • Learns to make IVF/FET paperwork, maintain internal IVF lab QA databases, report IVF/FET cycle outcomes to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), charge capture IVF laboratory services rendered, and monitor/respond to clinician and patient inquiries, as able.
  • Learns to perform routine embryology procedures, such as transvaginal oocyte retrieval (TVOR), egg stripping, fertilization checks, embryo assessments (cleavage-stage and blastocyst), embryo transfers, embryo thawing, and embryo vitrification, once proficient in above listed andrology and IVF lab duties.
  • Learns to perform cryopreserved sperm/oocyte/embryo inventory audits, discards, and donations. Reviews patient consents for accuracy and completeness before acting. Learns how to coordinate specimen shipping between Strong Fertility Center, outside fertility clinics, and long-term storage at ReproTech, Ltd.
  • Learns how to care for liquid nitrogen storage tanks and perform tank QC. Learns to perform monthly alarm testing and routine alarm maintenance. Learns to coordinate preventative maintenance and annual validation of IVF laboratory equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (Biology, Chemistry, or Medical Technology, etc.) and 1 year of experience working in a laboratory setting required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician licensure upon hire preferred
