About the Department
The Assistant/Associate Professor in MFTwillteachclasses, predominantlyinthe COAMFTE Accredited Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy Programs, and also in the undergraduate minor and Family Systems Program, if needed. Responsibilities will include clinicalsupervisionof practicum and internshipstudentsaswellasmaintainanactiveprogramofresearch,whichincludesthepursuitofexternalfundingforresearch.Inaddition,thecandidatewillbeexpectedtoactivelyengageindepartmental,university,andprofessionalservice, performstudentacademicandcareeradvisement, and serve on and chair dissertation and thesis committees.Theymustalsobeabletocollaborateeffectivelywithcolleaguesontraining,programdevelopment,andaccreditationactivities.
Position Duties
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Marriage & Family Therapy will:
- Maintain a teaching load not to exceed nine (9) credit hours per Fall and Spring semester (Summer course load optional)
- Provide academic and career advisement of MFT students
- Maintain an active research program
- Provide clinical supervision of MFT students
- Mentor student’s research as applicable
- Maintain an active service program, including departmental, school, college and University committee service
- Maintain an active clinical and/or supervision practice
- Pursue external sources of funding for research opportunities
- Participate actively in professional, honorary, and accrediting organizations
- Engage personally in professional activities that meet or exceed standards for graduate faculty
- Collaborate effectively with departmental and inter-departmental colleagues on training, program development, and accreditation activities
Minimum Qualifications
Basic Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
- A doctoral degree from a COAMFTE accredited program is required
- Demonstrated record of or potential for scholarly productivity in the field appropriate for rank
- Experience in providing MFT clinical services
- Current and unencumbered MFT licensure in the state of Louisiana
- AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Louisiana MFT state approved supervisor status
- Ability to successfully teach (including designing and implementing online courses) in a university setting as evidenced by course evaluations
- Hold AAMFT Clinical Membership
Preferred Qualifications for Assistant Professor (in addition to the above):
- Evidence of a strong research agenda
- Experience in pursuing external funding for research or service
- Experience teaching in a University setting and in an online format
