Oversee daily operations of recreational facilities, including staffing, scheduling, and event setup/teardown
Manage facility scheduling and coordinate usage across programs, events, athletics, and external groups
Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate full-time and part-time staff
Ensure compliance with safety, risk management, and emergency procedures
Lead membership services, including sales, renewals, and program registration
Develop, implement, and evaluate recreational and educational programs
Coordinate and execute special events, tournaments, and group reservations
Maintain and manage facility equipment, inventory, and maintenance needs
Provide excellent customer service and resolve member concerns and service issues
Monitor program effectiveness; collect, analyze, and report data for continuous improvement
Assist with budget preparation, expense tracking, and financial reporting
Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote programs and services
Collaborate with campus departments and community partners
Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation
Provide CPR/First Aid/AED training and ensure staff certifications are current
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Minimum of 3 years of collegiate recreation experience
Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors and ability to provide examples of savvy approaches to effectively resolving conflicts or complaints.
Current American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 1 month of start date.
Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date.
Desired Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience supervising staff, including student employees, in a college/university setting
Knowledge of university policies and procedures
Experience with recreation management software
