Remote Sensing & GIS Researcher in MBRSC LAB

The University of Dubai invites applications for the position of a Researcher in the MBRSC Lab, for commencement of employment in April 2025. The candidate should possess MSc degree in GIS or Computer Engineering/Science demonstrating expertise in Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Image Processing, Remote Sensing, and AI. Key Requirements: • Proven research experience with a strong publication record, proficiency in conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and synthesizing complex information into clear and coherent technical documents, along with excellent verbal communication skills. • Extensive experience in applying Image Processing and GIS techniques to remote sensing and geospatial data. • Strong programming skills in Python with a focus on machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn). • Expertise in traditional and deep learning methods for image classification, object detection, segmentation, and geospatial data modeling. • Familiarity with processing diverse remote sensing data sources, including optical imagery, SAR, and drone images, utilizing both commercial and open-source image processing and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, ENVI, ERDAS, eCognition, KNIME, WEKA, MINITAB). • Capability to develop, manage, and analyze remote sensing and geospatial datasets supporting diverse research projects. • Familiarity with developing geospatial products, technical reports, and visualizations using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online (AGOL), Portal configurable apps, and open-source GIS software. • Active participation in scientific conferences and collaborative projects. • Strong adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies rapidly.
