Conditions of Employment
|
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check, educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript), or driver clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.
UEI does not allow employees to hold more than one UEI Job at a time, or work in more than one college or center per pay period. UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week’s notice.

Prerequisites
|
Students working at the University Union or The WELL must be attending classes at Sacramento State during the regular term (Fall, Spring), and enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) semester units for undergraduate students or six (6) semester units for graduate students.

Additional Work Schedule
|
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 20 hours per work week (Sunday – Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per work week during breaks; (winter, spring & summer).

Compensation
|
$18.40 per hour
|
|
Minimum Qualifications
|
Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
|
|
Preferred Qualifications
|
- Previous experience working in a leadership position that handles a team of employees.
- Experience with administrative work including employee documentation, gym facility operations and staff scheduling.
- CPR/First Aid certification (within 60 days of hire).

Duties and Responsibilities
|
- Train, develop, support and motivate Fitness Attendants, Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.
- Assist with the daily operations of the Fitness Division including: fitness desk, group fitness program and personal training program.
- Assist with hiring of Fitness Attendants, Group Fitness Instructors, and Personal Trainers.
- Track proper certifications of all Fitness Attendants.
- Assist with the planning and facilitating of staff meeting/trainings.
- Ensure proper risk management and safety policies are being followed by all staff.
- Assist in survey implementation and analysis.
- Analyze current programs for future development (policy/rules/etc).
- Assist with equipment inventory.
- Complete bi-weekly reports of area specific updates.
- Complete incident/accident reports correctly and thoroughly.
- Attend pre-semester training and all staff meetings throughout the semester.
- Work collaboratively with other supervisors to effectively run the various Campus Recreation Programs.
- Assist in all Fitness Division programming and special events.
- Assist with the creation and oversight of the group fitness schedule.
- Assist in the general maintenance and troubleshooting of the all fitness equipment, including Group Fitness spaces.
- Delegate authority effectively to properly utilize staff.
- Work fitness attendant, personal training and group fitness shifts when necessary.
- Document employee conflict resolutions.
- Manage scheduling of Fitness Attendants (floor and break hours, adjusted hours, shift changes/coverage, etc.).
- Assist with time keeping for Fitness Attendants.
- Provide excellent customer service to all WELL members and staff.
- Perform other duties of similar nature as requested by immediate coordinator.

Physical Requirements
|
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers and scanners with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions
|
Work is performed either in a gym or office environment or a combination of the two. Continuous contact with staff and patrons. Frequent contact with the campus community and the public.
